Best Monitor and Laptop Stand Ever - Ergotron Lx Dual Desk Mount Arm

item:

When moving into our new office space I really wanted to have a professional setup for the desks. Using these monitor/laptop arms helps regain desk space for papers, staplers, cords, and other desk junk. It also helps make sure that the monitor is at the right height regardless of my height.

Ergotron Monitor Arm - High Quality and Cheap

We ended up buying these ergotron dual monitor arms. In addition to a monitor, this gets the laptop up off the desk to the right (adjustable) height as well. The arm setup was easy to assemble (my big monitor required a slightly higher tension on that arm) and now it's very easy to adjust the arms up or down or side to side as necessary.

The price (a little over $200 each) is quite a good deal for such a high quality product. The laptop stand arm has two little hooks you can use to hold in the laptop, or some rubber strips or some velcro strips (I've repurposed those to hold my phone in my car). Overall, they provide way more parts than I needed, which I guess is good because it allows everyone to customize just as they want.

Buckets of parts:

Overall I am quite satisfied with the monitor arms. I can't believe I waited so long to get it.

Awesome Cheap HD Camcorder: Aiptek Action HD GVS

The video produced from this camera is quite awesome. We used it to create this video

Drupalcamp NYC 6 - ezra-g and greggles remix from Greg Knaddison on Vimeo.

I'm really impressed by how easy it is to take videos with this camera, the quality of the video recorded, and the size of the camera.

The flip out screen is very useful, especially when shooting video from an angle above or below where my head actually is. It works great for making self-videos. One drawback of it, is that the 5x zoom lens on top is quite bulky along with the features of the flip out makes it too big to easily fit in my pocket.

I've mostly used the 30FPS 720p mode because it allows for the anti-shake technology to work. If I were shooting something on a tripod I might go for one of the higher resolution/higher FPS modes.

Sigma 30mm f/1.4 EX DC HSM Lens for Olympus and Panasonic Digital SLR Cameras

I've got an Olympus E-510 and this four-thirds prime lens lets me shoot in much lower light than I previously was able to get. It's a great addition to the original kit lenses.

Rode Podcaster Microphone - USB Mic

I got this to get a high quality voice over for all the screencasts I do. It is really quite nice. I kind of wanted to get a "real" microphone, but would then need to get a mixer to power it and some other equipment. This was "plug and play" simple.

I wish I had a case for it - otherwise, it's perfect. Probably 10 minutes at a fabric store getting some neoprene and then sewing it would provide all the more "case" that I need.
